Hawaiian Culture

One of the greatest culture shocks for people not born in Hawaii is the language of the

kama’aina, or locals.  Alongside the unique Hawaiian culture and heritage, the spoken

word throughout the state is not the same dialect heard on the mainland or around the

world.  For people looking into , understanding the words of

Hawaii is almost as important as deciding where to live, how much to spend, and what

to do.  The State of Hawaii’s constitution officially recognizes two languages: English

and Hawaiian.  Tagalog, Japanese, and Ilokano are other popular languages spoken in

Hawaii.  Because so many people are either directly from another country or are

second- or third-generation in Hawaii, English is not the first language for a large

number of local residents.  Nevertheless, Hawaii Creole English, more commonly

known as “Pidgin English” is the native dialect for many locally-born residents.  The

informal way of speaking is confusing to many visitors who struggle to understand

different terms, phrases, and regional lingo.  The is also starting to

re-emerge, in part due to the Office of Hawaiian Affairs who had established a number

of language schools and classes.  Nevertheless, English is by far, the most prominent

and spoken language in the islands.

In addition to selecting where you would like to go on a guided tour, you will also need to determine how long you would like that tour to be. In Mexico, guided tours can last as long as one day or over one week. You should easily be able to determine how long a guided tour is by looking at the price. Weeklong guided tours can cost thousands of dollars, but most of your accommodations are taken care of. Some guided tours can be considered all-inclusive vacations.

Journey Mexico, Siesta Tours, and Ufly Mexico are three of the most well-known guided tour companies in Mexico. You can examine the tours found by these three companies by visiting their online websites or by requesting free travel brochures. If you are interested in finding additional tours, your local travel agent may be able to offer you assistance.

By selecting a guided tour of Mexico, you do not always have to be looking over your shoulder. Vacationing in a safe area with an experienced tour guide is about as carefree as your Mexico vacation can get.

Are you interested in taking a trip to Hawaii? If you are, you may want to start making your travel arrangements. Before you do so, you may want to familiarize yourself with some of the many ways that you can save money on your next trip to Hawaii. Even if you are not on a budget, there are still a number of benefits to making affordable vacation arrangements.

One of the first things that you will want to do, when planning a Hawaii vacation, is examine vacation packages. Vacation packages are a nice way to make travel arrangements, as they are nice, easy, and convenient. Vacation packages enable you to make multiple travel arrangements, like your airline reservations and overnight accommodations reservations, all at the same time. You may even receive a discount for booking your next Hawaii trip in the form of a vacation package.

n packages are, they are not right for everyone. If you would prefer to stay at a Hawaii vacation home, as opposed to a traditional hotel or vacation resort, you may be unable to find a vacation package that includes the overnight accommodations of your choice. If this is the case, you may still want to make all of your travel arrangement through the same online travel website, as you still receive some of the previously mentioned convenience.

Speaking of making your travel arrangements, you will want to start with your airline reservations. This is advised as you may find varied rates. The rates that you receive for a trip to Hawaii will depend on a number of factors including time, season, or if you are traveling during a holiday. You may first want to examine Hawaii airlines and their rates with a two or three day window. While there are no guarantees, you may find it cheaper to fly to Hawaii on a Tuesday, as opposed to a Friday or a Saturday.

Next, you will want to make your overnight accommodation reservations. This is relatively easy if you are looking to book at stay at a traditional hotel or vacation resort. If you would prefer to stay at a Hawaii vacation home or another Hawaiian vacation rental, you will want to visit online travel websites that specialize in offering these types of rental properties. For the best success, you will want to examine those that deal specifically with trips to Hawaii.

What is nice about using the internet and online travel websites to make your Hawaii vacation rental reservations is that many allow you to search for rental properties based on location and price. This is great if you are on a budget. Even if you are not a budget, you may first want to decide how much money you would like to spend on a Hawaii vacation home or another Hawaiian vacation rental and then go from there. When taking this approach, be sure to remember that the less you spend on a vacation rental, the more money you can have for entrainment purposes.

Another one of the many ways that you can save money on your next trip to Hawaii is by preparing some of your own meals. Of course, you will want to dine out on occasion, but you may want to refrain from doing so everyday and for each meal, as this can get costly. If you choose to rent a Hawaii vacation rental, such as a Hawaii vacation home, you should be provided with a fully furnished kitchen. This enables you to easily prepare some of your own meals, as well as save yourself a considerable amount of money.

When it comes to finding things to do on your next Hawaii trip, you may want to examine nearby activities and attractions. Choosing things to do that are located a reasonable distance away from your Hawaii vacation rental or your Hawaii vacation resort is likely to save you money. Whether you use public transportation or choose to rent a car, eliminating unnecessary travel can not only save you money, but it can also save you time. This can help you make the most out of your next Hawaii trip.

They have detailed information on all rentals, including features, full costs, and rules and restrictions. Perhaps, the greatest feature is that of approximate map locations. Knowing exactly where each Hawaii vacation rental is located can give you a better idea concerning convenience.

Travel Hawaii

Are you interested in planning a trip to Hawaii? If you are, the travel plans that you have to make may seem overwhelming, especially at first glance. The good news, however, is that planning your dream trip to Hawaii is actually a lot easier than it originally sounds.

The first step in making your Hawaii travel plans is to decide on a location. Hawaii is filled with a number of beautiful islands, all of which make great vacation destinations. Maui is one of the most popular choices for travelers, like yourself. However, it is important to remember that you do have other options. These options include Oahu, Kauai, Big Island, Molokai, and Lanai.

Once you have decided on a location, you will want to start examining your overnight accommodations. This is important, as it may open up a world of opportunities for you, as well as save you money. Hawaii hotels are popular. If you choose to stay at one, you may be able to find affordable, moneysaving vacation packages. These vacation packages, although they do come in a number of different formats, may allow you to book your hotel, flight, and car rental all at the same time and for one affordable price.

In keeping with your overnight accommodation options, Hawaii hotels are nice, but you should know that they aren’t your only options. You should also examine Hawaii vacation rentals. What is nice about Hawaii vacation rentals is that they include so many different property types. These properties include homes, cottages, condos, villas, and apartment rentals. When making your choice, be sure to examine and compare rental fees, features, and convenience.

Whether you choose to stay at a Hawaii vacation rental or a Hawaii hotel, it is important to make your reservations well in advance of your trip. Hawaii is a popular vacation destination. This means that you will likely face some competition. Early reservations help to ensure that you get your first choice accommodations and that your Hawaii vacation is just how you imagined it would be.

As previously stated, if you book your Hawaii vacation in the form of a package, you often get to make your flight arrangements and car rental reservations all at the same time. If you opt for a private Hawaii vacation rental, you may need to make your reservations separately. The good news is that most online travel websites will let you do so.

Speaking of your other Hawaii travel arrangements, it is important to decide if you would like to get a Hawaii car rental. When making this decision, examine your overnight accommodations. Hawaii vacation rentals are often centrally located, but they may not be on the route of public transportation. That is why you should also examine Hawaii car rental companies. For a reasonable and affordable rate, you should have the ability to come and go as you please.

Your airline reservations also need to be made and well in advance of your trip. If you would like to book a stay at a private Hawaii vacation rental, it is a wise idea to make your airline reservations later. This is important, as some vacation rentals have limited availability dates. You do not want your flight to arrive in Hawaii two days before your vacation rental is available for you. To help you save money, be sure to price compare. There are a number of airlines that service Hawaii; therefore, you will want to take the time to find the best deals.

It is also a good idea to preplan your Hawaii vacation activities. Do you already know what you want to do and see when in Hawaii? If so, you are at an advantage. In all honesty, there is so much for you to do and see while vacationing on a Hawaii Island that you may not have time to do it all. That is why you should first create a list. As a reminder, an important part of planning the perfect Hawaii vacation involves making your travel arrangements well in advance of your trip.

The Hawaii Honeymoon

Travel Hawaii

Jared Moran asked:

Where in Hawaii can we expect to get the most for our money?

Ed Lee: Hawaii has a wide variety of accommodations in all price ranges including bed & breakfasts, hotels, and condominiums. The city of Waikiki has more hotels than condominiums and you can find a number of moderate hotels if you don’t mind staying three or four block from the beach. Maui, on the other hand, has more condominiums than hotel rooms. The moderately priced hotels and condominiums can be found in the southern region of Kihei. The Kihei properties are conveniently located across the street from the public beaches. Kauai and the Big Island of Hawaii have fewer choices for moderate hotels and condominiums. The moderate hotels on Kauai can be found north of the airport in Lihue along the coconut coast of Kapaa. The moderate hotels on the Big Island of Hawaii can be found in the Kailua Kona area on the western side of the island.

When is the best time of the year to go to Hawaii?

Ed: Hawaii is a great destination with warm and balmy weather most of the year. Rainfall varies with the location more than the season. The western and southern regions of the islands, the leeward side, have the driest and sunniest conditions with the calmest waters. The rainy season is from November to April. You will find stormy weather at times during the winter, but much of the rain consists of short daytime showers followed by rainbows.

Hawaii has several peak travel seasons, January – March, June – August, the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday seasons. The highest prices and greatest travel demand are found during these peak travel seasons.

Do you have any favorite “hidden gems” in Hawaii?

Ed: You can find hidden gems on most of the Hawaiian Islands. The Outrigger Royal Kahana on Maui is good value that is located just north of the more expensive hotels on Kaanapali Beach. It is a condominium with a full kitchen in all units and is close to shopping, fine restaurants, and golf courses.

The Miramar at Waikiki is a moderate hotel on the island of Oahu with a great location. It is a few blocks from the beach and in the heart of Waikiki near shopping, restaurants, and public transportation.

The Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort on The Big Island of Hawaii is a moderate hotel with a great location. Turtles and fish can be found in the tide pools and coral formations at the resort and it is a great place to snorkel. A replica of King David Kalakaua’s beach cottage and the remains of three heiau, ancient Hawaiian temples, can be found at the resort.

Hawaii has a number of smaller luxury hotels if you want to splurge for your honeymoon. The Whalers Cove on Kauai is small, secluded oceanfront hideaway located in the sunny Poipu area of the island. It is a condominium resort with spacious units and a cove that is perfect for snorkeling and diving.

The Hotel Hana Maui is a small, luxurious hotel in a remote town on the island of Maui. A private deck hot tub is offered in many of the Sea Ranch Plantation style cottages. The hotel offers yoga classes, horseback riding along the Hana Coast, a spa and much more.

The Four Seasons Lanai at Manele Bay Resort on the private island of Lanai is a secluded retreat of pristine natural beauty. The resort is perched above a white-sand beach that borders a protected marine preserve and features spectacular views of the ocean and Lanai’s dramatic coastline. The resort has an exclusive spa, outstanding dining venues, and luxury guest rooms.

Compared to Mexico or Tahiti, what makes Hawaii a special desination?

Ed: Hawaii is an exotic Polynesian destination that is a part of the United States. For American travelers, the demands of a foreign country such as a passport, currency exchange, a different language and culture are not found in Hawaii. The diversity of Hawaii with its great beaches, rainforests, volcanoes, sea cliffs, and the friendly mix of people make it a unique and exotic destination.

The Hawaiian Islands have many people that return to visit due to the stunning beauty of the islands, the diverse culture, and its rich history.

Where do celebrities like to stay?

The Four Seasons Lanai at Manele Bay was the honeymoon destination of Bill Gates and Melinda French. The Kona Village on the Big Island of Hawaii was the honeymoon choice of Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook.

The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel on the Big Island of Hawaii was the site of Lisa Marie Presley’s wedding to Nicolas Cage.

The Princeville Resort on Kauai is a favorite of celebrities such as Matt Leblanc.
